Warner Bros. Speedy Gonzales Tour
In 2007, Warner Bros. Consumer Products asked Grand Central Marketing to create a campaign that would capitalize on the organic resurgence in the popularity of the Speedy Gonzales character. GCM's answer was The Ándale Posse Tour, a 12-market tour targeting the trendsetting skateboarding crowd.
The Ándale Posse consisted of top pros Steve Caballero, Danny Gonzalez and Patrick Melcher. The skaters traveled across the country in a Speedy-branded FJ Cruiser, performing exhibitions at skateparks along the way. Each event included a pro skating demo, autograph session, premium giveaways, and a contest to find the best amateur skater. In addition, a limited-edition line of Speedy skateboards, T-shirts and hats were sold at tour events and local skateshops.
Intersection Entertainment filmed all the skatepark events, as well as the skaters' adventures on the road, for a forthcoming Ándale Posse DVD. Videos highlights were also posted on the website www.andaleposse.com, in addition to skateboarding sites and popular online content sites.
Everywhere the Posse traveled they performed in front of standing-room-only crowds, and the tour was covered by media ranging from local newspapers, radio shows and television stations to national action sports shows including X-Corps TV and American Misfits on Fuel. |
